YES!! my new PC is working!

got windows installed, only took 72 updates

got a heat issue (cpu is running at 43 degrees which is too hot for my liking) but i think i can sort that easy enough

final specs

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz) CPU
Asus P5B deluxe wifi motherboard
1GB DDR2 RAM (2x512MB sticks in matched pair setting)
Nvidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB
250GB SATA Hardrive
19" LCD screen
and the other bits you need for a PC (DVD and stuff) mobo sound and network

just installing warcraft now to make sure stuff works like it should - then i'm gonna give neverwinter nights 2 a go - my machine is just slightly above the recomended specs so i think i may be ok

43 degrees isn't bad at all. My old dual athlon box didn't croak until it reached about 85 heh

don't worry, them intel core duos do run pretty hot, 43 sounds pretty low

ah ok i wont worry too much its only running at 48 under heavy load anyway so its not like the heatsink/fan aint working

damn wow looks different on this machine - combination of everthing i think - this screen is a bit odd as well, though i can now see that my old screen is actually blurred!

noticed that one of the patches MS installed when i clicked "critical updates" was IE7, damn i'm glad i use firefox, even if FF2 is a bit shaky its miles nicer than IE7

FF2 crashed and burned horribly on my dualcore box at home - but not at work. Found out it was the damn Google Toolbar. Uninstalled it, and now everything seems nice and stable.
