were blood elves ever part of the warcraft world before? or have they just invented them for the sake of brniging in another player race?

They were in WC3 (or was it Frozen Throne?)

must have been the expansion.. i don't remember them from the original game.

maybe one day i'll have a look at wow, it's funny how it just seems such an appealing game?!

what has the expansion added except for more bloody elves? (see what i did there?)

heh the blood elves are the old high elves which were in WC2 and 3 (probably 1 but i never played so i don't know) they changed their name for some long and dull lore reason

the dreanei however are an abomination unto gaming and should be killed upon sight, bliz threw away the lore book with this race

on a more positive note i'm loving TBC, my orc warrior is at level 63, the first zone (hellfire) made me remember why i loved WoW so much, i have the week off work - i was gonna go looking for a flat but i'm pretty sure i'll not be leaving my computer seat all week.

i'd waffle on but that would stop me from playing

have to say that WoW is such a lovely game - the animation , the colours , the scenery , the game play , the mechanics ...

i have no experience of pvp though

I think you're right there callumf. i've never actually played it but it just looks good and well made and that somehow makes it appealing even though i'm not into high fantasy at all.

it was the same for the warcraft rts games. they were just good solid games with good stories behind them and a nice setting.

Yeah I like it, it's a good solid game, the only thing I really hate is the grinding for gear and rep. Looks like that is changing a little now though - some of the quest rewards for the solo quests are actually better than some of my epic gear! (mostly tier 1, granted).

Looks like TBC will keep me occupied for quite some time, been missing more high level solo content as I don't have the time to be active in a raiding guild any more.

aswell as thinking that if i had the time i'd come back to UO, i also think that i'd like to skip between a few of these new MMOs and see the different MMOs abit as i've got a very limited knowledge.

wow seems like something i'd like to take a peek at.

i wouldnt call wow that much "high" fantasy - ok its not feudal europe in the 13th century mmog where there is perma death from the plague set at 30% chance per hour in game or warts or mud or whatever =)

the quests are actually well thought out and form logical little storylines which teach you how to play the game and learn new spells and combat abilities as you go

you actually level in an IC manner if you quest

so my undead mage / herbalist / alchemist actually learns about it as he grows in levels.

you also get to learn about whats happeneing in the time frame of the game abotu current ic events and stuff.

but its really about a war between alliance and horde - which is pretty dirty and grubby low fantasy i reckon =)

please tell me these storylines don't involve characters who reappear and have the same name for everyone...

one big gripe i had with EQ2 was that the first stage of the game was almost identicle for everyone! everyone killed this "powerful" mage with the same name and stopped the war on this little island... which kept going so all other newbs could "stop" it..
