Anyone else find it incredibly Ironic that they have a show where the whole premise is that 'Ugly person in a pretty persons world' but when they did the casting they picked someone who was reasonably pretty, thus reinforcing thier own stereotype?

No views about the actual show though please, no one actually cares

I saw the poster advertising that show a few times and it occured to me that without the braces and the huge rimmed glasses and a different hair do, you could make the actress look pretty damn hot to most people... and I've decided that if that's ugly I'm not setting foot on the continenal US untill I can afford to have an entourage of hair/make up people to keep me in the absolute peak of beauty (that I can achieve)...

Well when they auditioned for Rainman I don't think they'd of thought of casting someone with autism (sp?) Maybe an old film and quite a contrast but its the usual way with casting, just like when they use Chinese actors in Japanese roles.

I've not seen more than 2 mins of an episode anyway and wouldn't want to.

True that. Taking someone who could probably be a catwalk model and putting her in shitty clothes, sticking prop braces on her and making her wear thick glasses just smacks of bullshit to people by and large. Don't think there's actually anyone out there who likes the show.

Maybe if the woman in it was ACTUALLY not good looking some people might watch it out of sympathy, but meh.
