That's not a bad time for the 2000m.
Are you following a specific regime? If not I'd recommend Crossfit (www.crossfit.com) - that's what I'm doing at the moment. It is based around short, intense workouts that emphasise functional strength and fitness. You may be practising olympic lifts one day, then doing exhausting metabolic conditioning (metcon) workouts the next. Every day they post a workout of the day - the idea is you follow that as best you can, but you can modify it according to the equipment you have available and your ability (the FAQ contains all the substitutions as well as videos for all the exercises). I have to say, been doing it for three weeks now and it is very effective. This is from someone who has been lifting weights and running for over 20 years.

I almost went to a gym once. We have a small one at work, and it's 2 doors down from the server room. Hadn't had enough coffee one morning, and wandered in looking for a dodgy switch. Thought it was weird. You need an access card to get into the server room. Apparently you don't need one for the gym.

You can do sit-ups and crunches until you're blue in the face but if you don't burn off the fat covering them, you ain't ever going to see your abs.

Well i was feeling slightly queasy afterwards! Had to cut short my visit.

And they also have this excellent game on there where you have to row at the right stroke per minute to catch the little fish and avoid the big ones!
