yup i know its ancient and decrepid now but i liked it and it was the only DVD player we had, the kids pulled it off the place it was sitting now the disc drawer is stick with a disc of unknown origins inside. Anyone know how i might fix this other then trying to prize open the drawer or by dropping it again as neither of those worked

I know on most PC disc drives, there is a small hole, into which you can insert a paperclip to manually open the drive drawer. Not sure if there is one on the PS2, but it's worth a try.

Worst case scenario, open the thing up. Chances are, the disc has just 'fallen off' the spindle inside.

Remove the slight covering on the front of the CD Tray. Theres a white tab in there you should be able to slide to the right using something like a credit card. That should let you just pull the tray out manually.

When you're done, push the tray back in and slide the tab to the right.

well its officially dead i couldnt find that white thingy you were on about so i risked apparent electrocution and radiation poisoning not to mention voiding a guarantee that had run out years back no doubt and took the cover off. with much pushing and tugging i managed to get the drive to open a bit more and got the disc out but i couldnt open the actual disc drive as i was foiled by the tiny screws that sony use. So got the disc out and put it back together the drive comes a little way out now but not enough to change a disc.

It's pretty much right under the cd tray as soon as you remove the front plate cover from the drive, like below.

It should, to all extent and purposes due to the reason for it being there, allow you to open the tray. Shouldn't be able to open it manually unless you do that.
