So wee Craigy Gordon, who I've watched mature from a gangly, spotty youngster into a gangly, spotty 9 million pound transfer, is off to the sunny climes of Sunderland as the most expensive British goalkeeper ever, and (I think) the fourth most expensive keeper in the world.

I know you English sorts don't follow the EssPeeEll that much but does anyone have any opinions on this transfer?

Personally, I'm sad to see the lad leave Hearts because, without a doubt, he was the best keeper in the league, especially considering his young age. He did a fantastic job for Hearts and kept us in a lot of games.

However, getting 7 million up front, plus another 2 after appearances, pretty much destroys all transfer records for clubs outwith the Old Firm - and for a goalkeeper, no less. So, considering he was going to leave at some point eventually, getting such a ridiculous amount of money aint so bad in my mind. Whether anything will be reinvested is another question.

Any of you have any thoughts? I'd be interested to know if English Premiership fans had even noticed him before now.

As a Villa fan its a joke that he decided to go to Sunderland instead of us. Clearly he is using the club as a stepping stone to bigger and better things and has a contract with so many clauses in it he will be off as soon as one of the top 4 has an interest in him

I get a lot of stick at work for saying Gordon is the best goaly in the world, but i stand by it. Go Craigy boy! My flatmates a hearts fan so he is gutted

yeah, he sounds not bad, and there were a few clubs after him. Dont think you can sety much store by 'most spent' records now though as everybody is getting more expensive
