Supercomputers are great!

People with nothing better to do who no doubt get paid far too much money have used a supercomputer to calculate the minimum amount of moves a rubiks cube can be completed in. We may or may not have a problem with global warming, we have problems with nasty things like cancer but fear not the supercompters of the world and our top boffins are being put to good use by solving a toy that is over 20 years old. I know I will sleep easier tonight

so.........what is the minimum amount of moves you can do it in then? or did they just say that they've worked it out and that its such a great accomplishment that they don't want to share the findings with any one

one of those "i do know what it is, i just don't want to tell you!"

its 26, though theoriticaly should be able to do it in the low 20's which is the holy grail of rubiks cube.

When they first did it they got 29 max with most being done in 26 or less moves, so they did it again with the ones that took more than 26 moves and as there was fewer calculations to do they could all be done in 26

Haha yeah, they should print out a list of every possible combination and mail it to people. Must be several million trees worth. That'll please the Hippies!
