Bioshock

I've just downloaded the PC Demo which came out "officially" today and it's god damn amazing. It really does have the feel of System Shock 2 and it's certainly been one of the best and most exciting PC experiences I've had in a long time.

I got the demo from Fileplanet - I'm not sure where else is offering it but it was superb from there - I'm not a suscriber and had to wait 45 minutes in a queue to download it but when it started I got 1.8 gig in around an hour.

Highly recommend it.

It doesn't look that bad, true enough.

I've been trying to get hold of Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners Of The Earth for ages now and I can't...

Played the xbox demo last week and looks amazing. The plot seemed kind of crap to me why would you go down the lift that turns out to be a mini sub, why would you just randomly jab something in your hand. I was going to rant about crap game story lines but apparently there is a good reason.

Bloody good game though, debating if I should buy on 360 or preorder on pc

Did you ever play System Shock 2 'Ribs?

For anyone interested in compatibility, my PC Specs are technically on the bottom end of the recommendations (1 gig ram, AMD 2000 MHz [2400mhz equivalent], 512 meg Geforce 7600 GS) and it works perfectly well. I don't think you would get away with much worse than that though.

Demo (as well as preorder) is up on Steam too. Loved both SS and SS2 so I'm probably buying this one.

Looks like its going to be very hard to preorder this due to the lamest copy protection yet which is proving to be a major pain in the ass even for legit versions. When the game is run for the first time it needs to be activated, game can only be activated 5 times (it was only 2) and to deactivate it need to uninstall. So if your PC dies you have lost an activation (hence why 2 was very bad idea) even better some people having problems with activation on legit copies got an error message to contact securom, when they contacted them they got an email telling them to contact take2, contact take2 and they say to contact securom yay.

Whats more annoying is need an internet connection to install, this may not a problem to most but I had the same problem when I bought Halo 2, was working away from hotel and installed it on laptop, got to end of first level and needed to activate it to get further. Pissed me off no end as bought it on the Monday hoping it would see me through the week. At least that let me play a bit.

Now I am not against better copy protection, but for the love of god if companies are going to release games that are a bitch to crack can they please release them at the start of the month when most people have been paid and can afford to go out and buy it

Bioshock will put Halo 3 to shame.

Yeah read about the SecuROM and 2 activations limit crap - luckily before I got around to buying it or downloading the demo. Even the fucking demo is infected with that DRM crap, I can't believe it. Bioshock just went from "game of the year, must have" to "won't touch with 10' pole" in a couple of minutes.

Unbelievable.

Even with the wonderful rootkit that Sony deigned to provide hidden in the installer, I played the Demo and it was so damn worth it.
