Recomend me some books... - Got a two week beach holiday coming up. What can I get in the way of books then. Preferably Sci-Fi ...

I'm a huge fan of Issac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke and they both have an incredible portfolio of work. Asmiov's Robot stories are great and for Clarke you could go for the Space Odyssey books or the Rama books.

I'm currently reading ORA:CLE by Kevin O'Donnell Jr which is an interesting old sci-fi book which seems excellent.

For Fantasy I would recommend Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea books which are a classic collection, and Susan Cooper's Dark is Rising Series are another excellent up to date fantasy romp.

If you want some Science-Fact I'd recommend Hyperspace by Michio Kaku which is an incredible journey into multi-dimensional science.

Not really a big fan of Asimov. Probably because I dont really care about the robots and stuff. (Great visionary of course though)

I think I saw the series of earthsea once, so probably spoilt the books

Ill have a look at the others

What about Hyperion, anyone read that? It gets good reviews everywhere, but seems a bit boring. I like my books with a lot of action!

Orcs! by Stan Something or other is ok if a little generic.

The First Book of Swords - Fred Saberhagen - kept me interested as well

Eyeless in Gaza - Aldous Huxley - [not fantasy] great read and especially apt for a holiday ...

Killing joke is a book about a guy who decides to find out where jokes start from, carries on from there, more surreal than fantasy, some quality comedy moments in it also.

High society from ben eltons worth a read also..

Some Robert rankin stuff aint bad either, chocolate bunnies of the apocalypse or the follow on book are a good laugh

Oh, thought it was the Batman comic by Alan moore they are about to make into a film....

Seen the film of High Society

never really got into Rankin, maybeI just picked up the wrong ones. I have a Craig Shaw Gardner book which is a funny/fantasy style that i always liked

"The Network Protocol Handbook" by Matthew Naugle. Should keep you occupied for a while, quite the brick.
