Running a half marathon tomorrow...

I haven't even come close to running anywhere near the distance for months now due to illness but don't want to be seen as a big loser to my friends who are also running it and I really really wish to avoid mutterings about whingerys and lack of manliness. So my hopes rest on perhaps being caught up in a freak zoo stampede, maybe to be run over lightly by a bus on the way there, hell I'd even settle a second minor earthquake to occour where I conveniently break both my ankles any time now so I can back out of this damn run gracefully... If all else fails though and the ridiculously improbable does not occour, well, wish me luck!

Good luck, and if you want to finish, take it slow. Better to finish with a slow time instead of not finishing

And if in doubt, piss yourself during the race

Holy crap mate, that is quite a trial. Having smoked now for about 18 years I doubt I could run 1 mile never mind 13.

Good luck for the run - all the best mate.

I havent smoked at all so cant use that as an excuse for not being able to run 1 miles. Couple of people at work are doing a 100 miles bike ride which is proabably a bit easier than half marathon so good luck

Good luck, and if things dont go as planed, you can always blame the illness.

Sadly I wasn't savaged by a wild badger and aliens completely failed to abduct me so I finally had to go and do it...
It turns out I was not the only person not looking forward to today and there were several drop outs so at least I came did it! The run wasn't as agonising as I expected it would be and because I simply would not be rushed and it was not as painful as I had expected either, considering over the last 2 months I had maybe 2 or 3 times run over a couple of miles or so to return home to go 'again tomorrow instead', so I think that even though I made everybody else wait about half an hour or so, that my finishing in under 2 hours in the end wasn't bad!

Pretty sure thats a not bad time for a half marathon, sure its better than a lot of us could do, practice or no practice!
