Colossal squid?
BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Colossal squid out of the freezer

Now the story has a nice diagram to show how big a colossal squid is, but nobody is sure. What is known is its bigger than a giant squid thats 13 meters long. Now this is the biggest colossal squid caught and is 10 meters long. So how exactly is this a colossal squid?

I thought the same... If it's this bigger-than-giant squid, then why is it smaller than a giant squid?
Only thing I can think it is that they've been observed to be longer, but this is the only one they've caught, and it happens to be a small one (baby one?)... They probably have significantly different anatomy, which allowed them to classify it.

Anyway; Yay, for sea monsters!

think its through its actual species...Latin random mumbojumbo, one species has the "tentacles" for grabbing and feeding, all able to do the same, with the other species having two "set" tentacles with barbed clubbed ends, to grip and pierce, something like that, I think, long time since did anything to do with squid etc, scary things they are. Supposed to been reports of upto 20 metres long ages ago, purely estimated from a captured tentacle that ripped off the squid, that's just....worrying

Talking of crazy latin names reminds me of Vampyroteuthis infernalis, the Vampire Squid from Hell!!!
Only 30cm long mind you, but it is black with glowing red eyes, has fins and webbed tentacles and not only this it even has its very own cloaking device!
It also is a great bet to make with somebody who thinks they know everything.

Also, why in the text does it say
