Its clearly a sport! Add some contact and it'd even be a half decent one. If we Brits had created it rather then the Yanks we'd be watching it on TV this summer in Beijing!

What like we watch the other sports we are actually good at? Like Rowing and cycling and shooting?

Theres no refs!

Sports have to be competitive, and im not saying you cant be competitive and honest at the same time, but dishonest people will raise above an honest person of equal skill!

I have played competetive Ultimate and the rules work fine, whether you are trying to cheat or not. Since everybody is their own referee, crap fouls can of course be called, but they can easilly be disputed too. As with every sport there are ways of turning the rules to your advantage and I would say that cheating is often easier done with a fallable referee than without.
Oh and it was invented in 68...

Bah! The entirety of my house play it for the uni, one of them's even club captain next year and I do give them grief for it not being a proper sport :P
Should have heard the jeers when last years Captain recieved an award at the AU dinner, the Rugby and Football boys were underimpressed ^^

Tho you're right if we'd invented it someone else would just wipe the floor with us :-/

Not saying the rules don't work fine, just as im sure the rules to Beard growing competitions are also fine.

And yeah, I read 68 and 70, so I amalgamated them together for poetic licence

You said there were no refs, which is part of the rules. What this has to do with beards I don't know, but I can be pretty sure even the most enthusiastic grower would not consider such a thing a sport so not quite certain where you are going there...
All I'm saying is that perhaps you should try it before you knock it - and you don't even need long hair to play!

Some fine examples of 'ultimate' haircuts
