Help me out here guys

I have a week off from 4th of August and nowhere to go. Been looking for a few days now trying to find something to do

my overall budget is about £600

As I said its just me, so no weekend romantic breaks or something. And I dont want to spend a week sitting on a beach. And of course has to be abroad, and not to any of our neighbours.

Places I have already looked at..
New York: bit over price range
Cuba: Hurricane Season
Train across Europe: None of the sites I have found are that easy to plot to somewhere like Hungray, or are more expensive than flying!

Any idea's?

Your maths is all wrong mate - he only starts off with £600!

That aside - what do you like doing?

A train to Rome means you can stop off at loads of places on the way and explore and stuff - "pensiones" can be found that are pretty cheap [think b&b] and you can book a bed on a sleeper car for some of the journeys [which can be fun]

Ok its more expensive than flying but you cant stop off when you want from an aeroplane.

Thats what I would do.

Oh and keep a diary and tell us all about it!

Retrun train ticket to Rome

Preferably within a week.

anybody done anything like that?
What sort of price scales are we looking at?

You live in London right?

You can be in Paris for lunchtime of day one [remember french trains travel FAST]. Sleep In pAris NIght 1 [Or travel overnight the evenign before your holiday begins and arrive in Paris morning of day 1]

Go overnight to Nice night of day 2 - hang there for 1 days.

Go overnight to Rome night of day 3

Hang out in Rome for day/nights 4 and 5

Day 6 get a cheap flight home?

And yes Ive doen this journey myself long time ago and it was lots of fun.

If you do the main travels overnight you save money on hotels and shizzle and sleep through the boring bits!

An INterrail Global Pass 2nd class costs a fair amount but is valid for 10 days - see here:

Italian Railways - Official UK Site - Information on Italian Rail Tickets and Passes, timetable, maps and live bookings on the whole network at low prices

Sleeper compartments might cost extra [in fact I am sure they do] but its an adventure your going on not a holiday!

InterRail Global Pass

Was looking at that, £212 is good. However cant see if it includes Eurostar, and when it says 5 days travel in 10 days, not sure what that means

Does it mean, total journey time of 5 days, can only use it to leaveon 5 days. have to be used within 5 days of first use?
