Short Olympic Opening Ceremony Review: Beijing 2008

Wow, that was impressive, especially the bit with the Torch going round the massive plasma screen at the top!

Who wouldnt want one of those at home!

Luckily Interactive had a way of turning off the annoying commentators, at least until the nations came out.

I shall refrain from political moaning in this thread

Equestrian on now, or Beach Volleyball at 2

Like a country with a lot less money to blow on trying to impress the world?

I think we should just go the other way, and just have a bloke light a torch. Claim it is something to do with carbon footprint or something

Why have a flame at all when you could just use shiny paper?

What about a picture of a flame?

I did think it was funny China going on about green and saving the planet, but the ceremony ends with a MASSIVE torch being alight for 20 days!

If Tesco sends all its used plastic bags there they could use them to fuel the flame, doesn't plastic burn green?

I agreed that was wonderful opening ceremony of Beijing. A happiest news for all Indians that World champion Abhinav Bindra wins India's first ever individual gold at the Olympic Games by winning the gold medal at the men's 10m air rifle event in Beijing. I am proud of that wonderful Indian hero.
