Exactly, I really wouldn't rate Kaka at 100m as great a player as he is. You could spend that 100m picking up fewer known players. I hate coming across as a fanboy but look at some of Evertons buys over the past.. however long Moyes has been in charge. Mikel Arteta cost us around 2m, same with Pienaar. I think Cahill was around that price aswell. Yobo was about 5m and Jagielka too. Tim Howard, one of the best goalkeepers about at the moment (and on paper, the best keeper Everton have had to date) was cheap as was Neville. Mixed in with all those bargains, we have some class home-grown talent.. Hibbert, Osman, Vaughan and Anichebe. Sure now and then we splash out the cash, but I think Yakubu is worth the 12m we spent, and Fellaini is looking like a very promising player, still only 20 or so. We really need a striker on loan through this window though, Cahill's doing fine as an emergency striker but all it takes is another broken foot from him and we're back in shit creek. |

According to the BBC the deal is nearly made, but according to the times it has been withdrawn and they are going to sign a different player who is a striker who plays in Italy. It would be hillarious if it were Antonio Cassano, that would make my day.

Soo... Joey Barton anyone? I think it is all overreactive hype, simply because of his reputation now he always recieves a heavier sentence from both referees and the media. He couldn't be less popular if he were a terorrist or a child molester by the way people react to everything he does. Yes the challenge he made on Alonso in his last match was stupid but it was hardly the worst ever tackle or even the worst that will be made. I could name a few higher profile players in some of the larger clubs, the likes of Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, John Terry or even Jamie Carragher who put in similar reckless challenges without even recieving a booking for their actions. OK he has served a jail sentance, but he finished it. Earlier this season in a game against Arsenal I remember seeing Samir Nasri deliberately kicking and fouling him, smug in the knowledge that there would be no retaliation or bookings and a blind eye was turned, nothing was said and nothing was done and I've watched other players do this too. Is it only acceptable to be overly physical if you have not served time in jail? hmm... anyway so now that the match of the day pundit, sorry the "manager" has decided that Newcastles demise can be blamed on him, we can put him in the stocks and all throw rotten fruit at him. That'll learn him for making a poor decision tackle and recieving a heavy red card... hmm... |

Do not want Newcastle to go down. 'Boro and Hull to go down. Along with West Brom, who have looked like a good team the past month and a half, bit late though.

West Brom, Newcastle and Hull to go I think. I'd be genuinely shocked if Mancheser United do not win the league and probably Champions League too. Chelsea to win the FA Cup and I'd like to see Shakhtar win the Euro Cup. But then, I said Arshavin was rubbish... |
