Just nearly burnt my house down
A rolled up bit of kitchen roll set on fire by the gas hob is not a good substitute for matches. Now have a very nasty burn mark in the kitchen floor thats going to take some effort to hide

Done that...

Gas fire in the lounge to light it, brisk walk to the kitchen, light the oven/hob.
Uncooked spaghetti can work quite well, but it stinks.
