Because, as I said, your claims show an ignorance of what constitutes a fact or a deduction and what constitutes conjecture or a fallacy. The very implication that there is some notion of prediliction to behavior, crime, or violence based on race is eugenics - factually wrong. Saying otherwise is ignorant of this.

Believing that one race is better or worse than another is ignorant.

I think it is time to have communication as an obligatory course in school. To be able to communicate is something that seem to have been forgotten. If you have to resort in insults and provocation in an argument you will in 99 % of all cases loose. Sure you might be able to fear the opponent, intimidate or even scare. But in the end you will be the one that looks like a kid with no manners, who very few will have anything to do with or do business with.

I think the main thing that irks people, Meiko, is that you stated a blatantly wrong 'fact' - not an opinion of a fact nor a conjecture based around it. Although we'll never know for a definite truth you're wrong about it, there's no reason to assume your apparent racial attack is justified. I'm pretty sure 'Innocent until proven guilty' still stands, eh? There's absolutely no evidence to back your case, so I'd say it was a little out of order.

A constructive argument might be a little better received than volleys of personal attacks. I mean, I know this is the ladies forum but come ON! It doesn't mean we have to get bitchy!

Oh dear, I've just opened another can of worms...

So some people find Meiko's views disrespectful (having worked alongside an oldskool white south african i can see the points behind her posts) is calling her ignorant any less disrespectful?

Not according to stormfront.com heh. Different people have different views, who's to say which are right or wrong?

For the record however; the fact that African-Americans are so disproportionately involved in crime in the US, is probably a reflection of their poverty.

I didn't even say I believed that one is better than another. I just mentioned some things and people "assumed" thats what I meant. Thats often the problem so much with these forums, people are so quick to jump on someone elses back and feel good about putting someone else down if they are even the slightest bit contreversal.

As for the stating a good argument with evidence, Calum, I never was good at writing essays. Probably why I got such a poorer grade at English than I did History. I write as I think, yes, I use plain english which doesn't meant I don't understand these more accademic terms but they can make someone look a bit bigheaded when they're writing on a forum which is meant for all ages and are better kept in a theologian paper.

Anyway back to what started this thread. The reason I said the man was brave is because he wasn't afraid to stand up and say something (even if it was wrong and even if he had security) infront of an audience of people. The problem with that clip is it doesn't show us what the man in the audience was saying, as the clip seems to be part way through the comedian's performance. We can't hear the person in the audience's comments so we put our own thoughts in and assume well the comedian is just being racist. Instead of, the guy was tired and run down by someone constantly sticking his oar in and so he retaliated, in an unprofessional way. Still doesn't make him so bad a person.

I think it's pretty safe to say that a person who repeatedly calls someone a nigger, and tells them that "fifty years ago we would have had you hanging upside down with a fucking fork up your ass", IS a racist.
Any good comedian can deal with heckling, there was no need for his outburst, and if he didn't actually have any racism in him, then he wouldn't have used such words. It was all under the surface waiting to burst out.
Anyway, I think this discussion has run its course now, so it's time to put it out of its misery.
