Perfume

What do you ladies love to wear and what do you absolutely hate?

When I was in my teens I had a Saturday job in Boots and worked on the perfume counter, where I got to test a lot of perfumes. I chose Diorissimo (strong lily of the valley scent) as my first perfume but also fell in love with Guerlain's Mitsouko, which saw me through University.
In my late 20s I discovered Angel and wore it quite happily, until it became very common. Since then I've been trying different things.
I still have some Mitsouko and a good sized bottle of Angel Eau de Parfum, but also have the Belles de Ricci green bottle (a lovely tomato leaf/raspberry scent that is perfect for summer - it reminds me of greenhouses), Rose Angel (Garden of Stars special edition), a perfume made by Hotel Chocolat called...wait for it...Eau de Chocolat (and it is a little chocolately, though mainly sandalwood and spice with vanilla base notes).
I've just bought some Alien to try, along with some Hypnotic Poison and Youth Dew. So I intend to have some fun with them.

oh my - just finding one single perfume that i can wear without it smelling like paint stripper was a challenge !!! My bf - who is a wonderful and patient man - decided to take me shopping to find a perfume I could wear. I have to admit it was one of my funniest shopping trips and to this day we still get the giggles thinking about it. We tested every perfume going (thankfully not all of them on me) and of those that we liked and did test on me we couldnt find any that smelt right on my skin - i must have a weird chemical make-up lol. It is insane how drastically the scent of a perfume can change from the bottle onto my skin.

In the end it was purely by accident that my bf came across the perfume Heart by Clinique - and it smells gorgeous both in the bottle and on me - yay!!!

I wear red jeans mainly cause its cheap and doesnt smell to bad I quite like J'adore by dior Ghosts original perfume is too sickly sweet for me and channel No. 5 smells like cats pee tbh. Also Ginger by lush was foul but perfumes depend on the wearer and the person whose smelling them its all to do with pheramones or something

When I was very young and couldn't afford to buy perfume, I used to go to the perfume counter in Boots and douse myself in Sea Jade, a very popular smell for teenage girls in those days.
When I started working, I used to buy a really foul perfume called Tabu, which smelled absolutely disgusting, but it lasted ages and you only needed one squirt to gas an entire room of people! It was cheap too, about a quid a gallon, I think.
Now I have more refined tastes, and like a few different perfumes:
Paris, an old favourite, I still love it
Ultra Violet, by Paco Rabanne
Mitsouko by Guerlain, mmmmmm, a drop dead killer perfume!
Tea Rose, by the Perfumers' Workshop
But I also like the EDTs made by Next, nice for work, and cheap too.

Ones I don't like:
Chanel No 5, just smells horrible and overpowering.
Sun, Moon, Stars: gorgeous bottle, lovely name, but smells like old ladies knickers on me
Poison and Opium: smell like sweaty armpits with Lynx sprayed on them

Poison is disgusting - the most repellant perfume i have come across.....and highly likely to induce an asthma attack within minutes. I had several occasions stuck on a commuter train sat next to women wearing that evil perfume and felt like death by the time i got to work

Mitsouko is a great perfume. Funnily enough when I first started wearing it, my mum told me it was what she wore when she was younger.

I actually like Poison, but I have to agree on the Chanel No 5 - I just don't like it.

I think skin chemistry has a lot to do with it, as well as personal preferences. I absolutely detest white musk and I can't stand marine/aquatic scents. There was a girl wearing L'Eau d'Issey on the tube this morning and I had to move seats. Foul!

You seem to prefer light florals with a fruity touch. You might like Very Valentino.
However, perfumer Lynn Harris created a fragrance called Coeur d'Ete when she was pregnant and found other perfumes were too strong and made her nauseous. You can find it here.

I used to wear Anais-anais, primarily because it was given to me. Following that, a brief foray into "happy" by clinique. I was given Gucci Rush one year too and I still haven't decided whether I particularly like it or not, I'm quite picky about it.
One I dislike, though is Lulu (or is it LouLou?) - urgh!

When I had my Saturday job at Boots, I remember a woman coming in and asking for a bottle of Anus Anus. I kid you not. I had a hard time keeping a straight face...

That's what my mother called it when she worked in the smellies counter at Gatwick... she even shouted "... have we got any anus anus toilet water out the back?" to her fellow shop worker... only when she fell over laughing did my poor mother realise what she'd just said...

I rather like the Jean Paul Gaultier Classique. It smells light on my skin and one bottle seems to last for ages. When I was younger I used to drench myself in that dreadful Impulse On Fire.... smelled like a sweaty hooker!

I like that one - nice bottle too. But have never owned it, probably because someone I disliked intensely used to wear it.
Hypnotic Poison for me today.
