what annoys me is the food fads.

"Don't eat this, don't eat that. Make sure you eat plenty of this...."
Then they find out something else and say what you should eat you should'nt and vice versa! They always moan on about something! Why can they not say something positive about pregnancy?!

Yup i wanna eat peanuts have a real craving for them but i cant risk it as i have allergies which means if i eat them i could cause my child to be allergic to peanuts so i dont i didnt with either of my two and azia is still allergic to peanuts go figure

Um... if you DIDN'T eat peanuts during your pregnancy with Azia... could it not be at all possible that eating peanuts during pregnancy or not eating peanuts has little or no effect on the allergies your child will have?

I of course, being a man have never had childbirth though my wife tells me that she's going to be well within her rights to hit, abuse and curse me as much as she wants while she is giving birth because its her right!

Absolutely. She gets nine months of nausea, water retention, piles, painfully swollen breasts, having her vagina scrutinised by strangers, and then hours of agonising contractions and intimate stretching that may leave her needing stitches...oh and a lot of women involuntarily poop whilst giving birth as the baby passing through the birth canal puts pressure on the rectum - again whilst strangers scrutinise her privates...and after which she is left with a saggy stomach, stretch marks and genitalia, some of which may not "snap back" despite what celebrity mums will have you believe...so yeah, I'd say she's entitled to hit you and call you every name under the sun.

PS...just part of the reason I'll not be having children, thankyou very much.

It's...uhm...not that bad. Some of us don't even need pain-relief. And...er...some of us DO 'snap back' just peachy afterwards.
On occasion we actually go on to do it more than once. *pats her ickle bump*

Not sure about bad advice... believe it or not but I've not heard anything yet that I thought was totally ridiculous.

But how about good advice? Such as

"sod the hard nuts telling you you need to do it all without pain relief. You'll be offered some fantastic drugs - make the most of it and try them all!"

Another suggestion I've had was that if there ever was a time to develop a mystery craving for Ben & Jerries or some outrageously expensive super-yummy chocolate, pregnancy is it. Even when it's just an excuse to get someone to pamper you.

I wish I had been so lucky for that kind of craving.. all I wanted was fish and chips with tons and tons of malt vinegar on top.. hmmm actually all I wanted was the vinegar...lots and lots of vinegar. Some gals get all the luck...

well at least this is just a general comment tho made by all who do have children to try to convince everyone else to as well.. the earth is overpopulated as it is, do we really need even more? perhaps it's a hormonal thing that parents go through that make them all want to "spread the joy"... I think I have to stand with Cal on this, I'm not really sure I feel the inclination to have children most days. Although it is under consideration because Garod would like them..
