Temp workers tend to get shafted for safety (at least we did in the early 90s). I got quite a few days work at the same warehouse where I did the barcode sticking - some days it was packing sherry into cardboard boxes (boy those bottles stank the place out if they were broken), other days it was sticking flannels and soap into glass jars to sell as Christmas gifts.
The sherry day, we also had to make up the cardboard boxes, which involved gluing them with boiling glue. The glue came in hard pellets that were inserted into a gun which then melted them to nuclear temperatures. You used the gun to squirt the molten glue onto the box flaps.

Unfortunately, the glue guns leaked and we weren't given protective gloves until after pretty much everyone had been burned. I still have a half-inch scar on the base of my thumb where several layers of skin got incinerated.
