![]() | With my first i didnt know you could have anesthetic for the stitches was just told to puff away on the gas and air This was after she let the heavy handed student mw check me to see if i needed any ow! the other two it was in birth plan not to give any stitches unless it was really bad but i hardly tore at all on those. i would definatly reccomend pelvic floor exercises i did thousands with each pregnancy and im sure thats what made the pushing stages so quick each time.

![]() | wtf? thats ridiculous 1st time or no if its not needed why do it they are much more uncomfortable then a tear generally require more stitches and take longer to heal if you dont want one tell your doctor in no uncertain terms that you dont want one unless its necessary and write it in your birth plan

| Senior Member Lady | Birth plan? In my time we didn't have such things, that sounds so old. I had to be cut and had stitches but was anethetised first. I was asked if I wanted pethadine and took a while before I accepted as the pain I was having hurt more than any injection would. Was definatly good after but I was so out of it and not sure if thats why he slept so well on the first night too. On the other hand my sister had a home birth with no drugs at all, because she couldn't get to the hospital in time. Don't think I'd ever want to swap places there. |

![]() | The midwife ignored our birth plan on child three and made a right old fuss about everything and made birth three quite miserable for us. So for birth four we did it at home and it was AWESOME! Relaxed, quiet, peaceful, clean and with two midwives in attendence for the whole birth process. A cup of tea five minutes after birth, took my partner to the bath and she was sitting up in bed eating cakes and drinking tea within 30 minutes of the birth! [ I had some red wine as it was Saturday night 930pm and then watched Match of the Day whilst mother and baby slept off their exertions] Sweet!

I was cut which I found worse than tearing as the scar never healed properly. I actually found male doctors were more sympathetic and caring than the female ones! On the birth of my second the episitomy scar tore (muscle never heals back properly if cut) I asked the male doctor for anaesthetic and he whipped out a spray! A quick spray on the area before sewing! that was all it took! The female doctor on the first was just like those women on French and Saunders "Stuff and nonsense women in the jungle give birth and tear blah blah" Hence my gynaecologists are from now on only male.Quote:

![]() | My homebirth went balls up as i couldnt progress and they wouldnt pop my waters at home as baby was to high up which risked a cord prolapse so after 12 hours at home no progress i went in popped my waters and he was there within the hour he was back to back for the whole labour and tried to turn for the birth meaning he was still turning as he was coming out which was why it was so painful

![]() | Im on the verge of begging to be induced next week I tell ya! Ive had 4 gallbladder attacks in the past 4 days... 2 of which I went to the hospital for, (the other 2 I would of, if I had not been home by myself all night..) and only one of which they gave me pain medication! I cant eat ANYTHING without it causing a gallbladder attack it seems. Doesnt help to have a 6 pound + baby pushing up into my ribs/stomach/liver/gallbladder during the entire episode! Ive got 2 more weeks till my due date and already Im trying to devise ways to move this along lol... The earliest they will induce me is August 4th :/.. Im going to push for it, then get my stupid gallbladder out... Its killing me!
