Still hard to believe.... Chris was a kind, sincere, thoughtful and all round great guy. No-one could have asked for a better friend, [or better tag team partner on the gm board...] He'll be missed greatly and always in our hearts... Mandy x

I will pass on all these kind words to his family. Thank you. I know most remember him well from his time here as an admin and from his time in CoRE and the RP community in general. Still lost for words currently.

Yes, he did play Ione in DoT. A great friend over many years - the photo Busty posted was actually taken at my wedding. He was a kind, considerate guy who always put his money where his mouth was - he'd call a spade a spade and if you didn't like it, he'd sit and growl at you till you thought better of it. He'll be sorely, sorely missed. There will a small epitaph to Chris... as many of you will have noticed, Chris was a big fan of the sci-fi author Peter F Hamilton, and all his characters were named after characters in Peter's books. As a tribute, Peter's next book - due out this autumn - will feature a character called Chris Turner. Peter thought that would put a smile on his face, and I'm sure it would have. Unfortunately, Chris never knew of this plan. When I spoke with him around 10 days ago he sounded ill but in good spirits so I thought I'd go tell him in person.... was due to go see him this Friday. It's a real shame that instead, I'll be going to a funeral. Rest in peace, Chris. We'll remember you.

I'm coping this over from the Stratics Europa forum, as Aston can't get on here: Quote:
Rest in peace, Chris.

I was really sad to hear about this. I only met him once, but he was definatly one of the most unique people I've ever had the pleasure of sharing conversation with. I think that's an awesome tribute Seriya, even if he didn't know it himself. Last edited by Noxin; 20-01-08 at 07:29 PM.

I would just like to add my condolences. I did not know Laton personally but it's very sad to know anyone from the UO community has passed away long before they should have. Seriya that is a wonderful tribute. Last edited by Zim Zum; 20-01-08 at 07:30 PM.

It's been a long time since I have been active here, either under this name, or as Thodin. The photo posted was a wonderful one, he looked very handsome in it. We probably met at the 2002 spring London meet. Laton was a dear part of my old circle of acquaintances, even if I never knew him personally. I do recall being involved with events he was involved with. He was the old core group, at the centre of all kinds of fun. His forum posts were always fair. Lymphoma is not a fun thing to have had to struggle with. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Just to add my own condolences - only met him from time to time in game and via posts on the forum, but always struck me as a great guy. Sad news indeed.

That's some unexpected and very sad news ![]() I never met Laton in RL but knew him from the boards and a couple of times hunting/playing together in game and usually seemed happy and very much into whatever was going on. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family. Seriya, I think he would have really liked that.

I first got to know him some years ago in the F4G Blood Bowl League (in which he kicked my ass), and then in various adventures in UO in the DCL days. Was a very nice and cheerful man, and will be greatly missed. Condolences to all. Last edited by Devante; 21-01-08 at 12:30 AM. |
