| Senior Member | I first got to know him some years ago in the F4G Blood Bowl League (in which he kicked my ass), and then in various adventures in UO in the DCL days. Was a very nice and cheerful man, and will be greatly missed. Condolences to all. Last edited by Devante; 21-01-08 at 12:30 AM. |

![]() | I didn't know him very well, which was my loss. All the memories I have of his posts, and meeting him in person, are positive. My condolences to all who have lost him, as a friend or loved one.

![]() | im gonna dig through my old meet pics and see if i cant find some more of the meets... life is never fair ![]() Biggest regret is loosin touch after i left UO, Laton was a top bloke who always gave me sound advice (most of which i was too immature to listen to) The one things this reminds me of is life is far too short.

![]() | One of my biggest regrets is not going to Seriya's Wedding. I would have met quite a few folk that I want/ed to meet and I didnt. Chris was one of them. Always sensible, moderate and thoughtful when I asked him for advice and/or help. Spoke to him quite a lot on ICQ during the times when DCL and SCT were playign a lot of UO together and he always made the effort. A great role-player who also tried to look for different avenues like his Trinsic Bodyguard role [which I utilised] once DCL were in decline. I had the pleasure of role playign with him enough times to have some fond memories [if a little vague] of the half man - half bear thing that he created called Choma. Choma reflected something in Chris [of that I am sure] but what exactly it was I wont ever know as I didnt know him well enough. But I suspect it was a desire for true freedom to be able to live life to the full and to throw off the restraints of modern living. I liked him a lot and he gave this board and other boards something special. Condolences to his friends and family [real life mostly but lets not forget the Dark Cloaks] for such a sad loss. Greg - player of Callum Fitzhugh

| Dux femina facti Commander | This is very sad news. Chris was great fun to RP with and to chat to in party or over ICQ, and he always had a solid, sensible, clear-headed way of looking at things. I regret that I never managed to meet him in real life. Lymphoma is a horrible thing, but from what little I know of Chris, I’m sure he managed to face it with as much courage and humour as possible. My deepest sympathies to his family. (His character Ione is actually still on the DOT guildstone - once a DOT, always a DOT. She’ll stay there in his memory at least as long as I’m the GM.) ------------- ![]() Dukes don't cheat, they adapt to circumstances. (Slightly amended quote from "The Slipper and the Rose") |

![]() | I'm very sad about this - I'd hoped the transplant would work, but I guess it wasn't to be. I may moan about getting old sometimes, but things like this make me realise that getting old is a privilege. My thoughts are with Chris's family. RIP, crazy bear man.

![]() | I had a great deal of respect for what Chris did in the game and on the boards. At such a sad and difficult time my thoughts go out to his family.

| Senior Member | This is indeed sad news. Althought i never knew him well enoguth, he did seem like a wonderfull person, one that was able to make people smile. Seeing him in game was always an enjoyable experiance. Does his family know about the character in Peter F Hamilton's book? And do you know what the name of the book will be? |

![]() | If Seriya hasn't already informed Chris's family, she will when we head down to the funeral. The hope had been that it would bring a smile as he'd not had much to smile about, rather than it ending up a way to say goodbye. I believe the next book is to be titled "The Temporal Void", although Seriya will have to confirm that. For my part, there is still such a large part of my heart that cannot accept that the person I have chatted to every evening for the last decade online and invited into my home regularly (even if he only had the sofa to sleep on) will no longer be there to tell me off when I am being silly, to keep me sane when things seem to be getting out of control, or to make me smile when I have lost my sense of humour. He was the inspiration for our current World of Warcraft guild, and the motivation to keep working at it every time things seemed too much hassle to continue. There are so many aspects of both Ultima Online and World of Warcraft that I had never realised I always thought of in conjunction with him. I guess you don't realise until the thought brings so much sadness as well as the pleasure. Chris has been a very prominent person in my life for many years and I believe that my life has been richer for it.

![]() | "Only the good die young" - never ever were this lines so true Never met him in Real Life but only on the boards and of course in game - he brought me to Roleplay and even helped me in Real Life with Advices during my nasty divorce. Great chap he was, always cheerful and good for a laugh. My condolences to his family and friends, im sure he will be remembered as the person he was and still is in our hearts.

| I want a better title! Crackers | Some more messages pasted from the Stratics board: Nilrem That's some unexpected and very sad news I never met Laton in RL but knew him from the boards and a couple of times hunting/playing together in game. My thoughts and condolences go out to his family. Yewish News I remember Laton as a boardie back in ye days of olde, but we also met IC quite a few times as he dwelled nearby. I suppose the only positive thing is that he had enough time to say farewell to the people that mattered. Firebird I totally echo the words of Nilrem.. I rememeber Laton from way back and he was a very much apart of the Europa community, ingame as well as a boardie. Very very sad news indeed My thoughts and condolences go out to his friends and family. Le Baiton *takes off hat and bows head* I too remember Laton from the days of olde, but I didn't get to know him on a personal level. Sincere condolances to friends and family for this loss... Lucy of Kenton God bless. Sean May the Light shine on his path. Madcat I didn't really know Laton, but do remember the name. Sad news indeed for his friends and family. HolaHola Rest in Peace Killerspoon I knew Laton very well. Not really been in touch last few years but we had some excellent times in UO also met up a few times at meets and had beers. I’m sad to read this. Amalasan Sad news indeed, through all the drama of the roleplay community, Laton/Choma was a voice of reason and a great roleplayer. I’m honoured to have known him. he will definitely be missed. Wishbone Very sad news Fluffi Bunni I only met Laton ingame, and never (knowingly) IRL. I have no idea what my F4G password is anymore, so I would very much like someone to add my heartfelt condolences in the appropriate place. Thank you. Fluffi. Rosalinda Aw, what sad news! He was a nice guy, the only player I ever met who actually looked EXACTLY like his paper doll! Which ensures that I, for one, won't forget him!
