| Magic! 'Special' | Nope, its in my constitution that I never dignify anything from the daily mail with a response, lest people may misunderstand and think i value thier opinions in the slightest

![]() | Well that is a year old - those two girls were on Make Me a Supermodel on Channel 5. I saw some of it. The skinny girl, Marianne, was actually a much better model though she looks dreadful there. Jen, the size 12 girl, did not look good in lingerie. It wasn't that she was fat, but her body wasn't worked out. She had a saggy bum and cellulite, and no boobs to balance it out - basically what I call a Baloo the bear figure - narrow at the top, wide at the bottom. I am genetically predisposed to have the same pear-shaped build but had the good sense to haul iron in the gym so that my shoulders balance out my hips and I have some pecs to push out what meagre bosoms nature has given me. As for the size debate, remember that vanity sizing has made a mockery of what the sizes actually mean. In ye olden days of yore, fashion models were typically size 10. However, that isn't the same as a 10 or 12 these days. As a teen in the eighties I was a 14. I had smaller measurements then than I do now but these days I wear 12s and some 10s. The infamous size zero (a UK size 4) is more like a size 8 a few years ago. Models mostly wear around a size 6 which is a vintage size 10 - so in fact, not much has changed. What has changed is all these dreadful magazines that like to print unflattering pictures of celebs without their make up/looking too thin or fat/bad hair day/spinach in teeth - you name it. It's all sensationalised. As for what looks healthier, yes, it's all very nice to say a curvier girl looks better, and 99% of men will agree. However, fashion designers don't want sexy girls - they want clothes hangers. Clothes hang better on a skinny girl. The slim but more shapely girls like Heidi Klum and Tyra Banks (before she got fat) usually end up doing stuff like Victoria's Secret and more commercial modelling, but high fashion is the preserve of the skinny minny.

![]() | I would like to say here... Marilyn Monroe was a size 12. And those clothes hangers are dropping dead from eating disorders and malnutrition. Now, being grossly overweight is not healthy either (speaking from that end of the spectrum myself) People can't always control what body type they have. Genetics, Glandular issues and other contributing factors all add to the mix. It is important to eat healthy, balanced meals AND even MORE important to excercize regularly. Cellulite happens to everyone. Airbrushes and pantyhose take it off of super models, even the skinny size 0 model. And, I personally don't believe those clothes look better on smaller sizes. I think the fashion industry does not want to spend money for another extra yard or two on fabrics that cost upwards of $300.00 a yard. Ive seen plenty of women of every size look absolutely fabulous dressed up, even in Lingerie. You just have to find the right clothes for your body type. And Tyra Banks...is still only a freaking size 6-8, and very tall. Girlfriend isn't fat. She's healthy and not a 16 year old child anymore.

![]() | Actually, Marilyn Monroe has been debated to have been anywhere form about a vintage 12-16...and noone actually seems to have an accurate record of her dress size (which as Cal alluded to earlier is about 3-4 sizes bigger than current dress sizes) Just her Bust size *smirks* That probably says it all really.

| Senior Member Lady | I wish I was a 12 again, or a size 10 like I used to be, but I'm size 14 now. Size 12 is definatly not fat. |
