![]() | Well since my doctor has put me on restriction for lifting, my job effectively laid me off.. Not so good as I make decent enough money there. Good as well, its hard work physically and mentally and lately, I'm in short supply of the mental goods.. Still that isn't exactly great, but unemployment (its like, I don't know, insurance sort of? You work, and if you get laid off, the government pays you weekly with some fund you paid into while you were working..?) has decided to take pity on me and accept me.. So Ill be getting a (granted, fairly small) paycheck weekly all the way until the baby is at least a month- month and a half old! Its better than nothing, and its the difference between just scraping by, and scraping by with money saved up as I can bank all the weekly checks ![]() Annnd my Mommy comes to town at the end of the week and we are going to do the bulk of the shopping when she comes! Annnnd I found the most beautiful crib bedding set ![]() and I only paid 95$ US for it, for a 9 pc set... on ebay.. ![]()

![]() | That's not good about the job - sorry to hear that. Bedding is pretty though. Hope it cleans up easily!

| Senior Member Lady | Pink.. eeew... *Grins* I like the wood though, very nice. Do they give you a grant over in the USA too? New parents in UK get a grant when unemployed plus something like £1000 or maybe alot less paid into a trust fund for when they're 18, which parents or grandparents can pay into as well. |

![]() | Anorah - make sure you get a cot with a drop down side or you will do your back in! Also its hard to kiss a baby good night if you dont have a drop down side! [I have to sing "Little Donkey" to my Sophia every night to send her to sleep]

![]() | I agree. I got one without, and when I was pregnant, putting an older baby to bed and bending over with a bump....... Was not nice. Last edited by Ebony&Markus; 28-03-07 at 05:12 PM.

![]() | Omg shes perfect Chris! So beautiful.. ![]() I wasnt super happy with the pink, but I love the fairies! I actually prefer primary colours, and I would have loved it moreso had it been in a nice green maybe... They actually have a honey bee set that is So so adorable, but its mostly white.. Grant? No.. They give you a tax break, thats about it.. lol.. Parents I believe get about 2500$ US a year extra at tax time for a refund which will be nice... ^^ Ive got the cot, but no room for it! I want to move before the baby is born, but Im not sure if it can be afforded or not, so Im between also getting a glider thing (like a bouncer, swing thing, that moves side to side, forward backward.. really smoothly?) or a bassinet, or a moses basket, the latter of which I started out wanting.. To keep at the bedside till she is a few months old Im hoping.. Im praying she isnt a big baby :P I was normal size as was the father at birth, but his head is gigantic! So far her head is measuring normal size.. Both his nieces are in the 90+ percentile for large heads.. Chris, you should definally sing to me that donkey song.. I mean, I should learn it right? What better way than to have someone else sing it!
