Question The pill

I have been on the pill for 8 years now. (My does the time fly). Anyhow it has killed my libido and recently my vision has become really blurred. Has anyone else experienced this? I did not know the pill could affect your vision? or maybe a coincedence?

I don't take the pill myself as for one I'm not too good at remembering to even take vitamins daily, let alone something as important as that. And two I don't like the idea of something messing with my hormones. I think long term usage of the pill can have side affects and believe this is fairly logical if your taking a chemical substance that so interferes with your natural hormonal balance. I prefer using a coil, something I was able to have for 10 years and not worry about forgetting to take a tablet, plus it wasn't putting any chemicals into my system. My only fear now is they've changed it to one that does.

On an entirely different note, age can affect libido and vision, as well as diet. I've recently started needing glasses in the last 2 or 3 years whereas before I had perfect vision. So the two could be entirely unconnected.

the pill can have an adverse effect on blood pressure which in turn can affect vision is this a new batch of pills it could be that theyve put something new in the mix and your having a reaction to that either way get it checked as can be a symptom of something more serious

Yeah I have heard that you need to watch the hormone levels because my ex had hers changed without notice and she had to go get it fixed. She was sick for a week prior to figuring out what caused it.

well... seems it can have lots of unusual side effects not mentioned! People often forget it is a medication after all!

Birth Control Pill May Permanently Reduce Sex Drive Study Finds

wow, I wonder if in the future like cigarettes there will be warnings on the packets! especially regarding thrombosis and risk of cancer. Surely if smoking increases the risk then the pill does too at the same level. Was shocked about the pollution in the rivers, that is really really terrible...

Wonder how it get's into the water though...

There is little in the real world that comes without health risks. I don't think most woman do nto have a choice to not take the pill, unlike my granny I do not want 12 children...

I am sure there are ways to stimulate libido through various means. If I am with the same guy for a couple of years, without change of routine, that will also decrease my libido.

The study is again only made on 124 woman, there are millions taking the pill.

You are right. I really don't want to have 12 children or more either which is why I take the pill. I guess you need to weigh up the pros and cons of everything. It is a medication though that is why there will be side effects. I also noticed every few years I have to change my pill type as I start getting really nasty side effects. I guess it is to do with ageing as your bodies hormone levels change etc..

I started with cilest. No problems, then suddenly after 6 years, spotting and really heavy bleeding.

Changed then to microgynon, been on that one for 6 years now, however it is the worst for weight gain, put on about 9 pounds with it... But I kind of figured better a bit heavier than having an unplanned pregnancy, but now I started to get the worst headaches ever so time to go back and change again.

It is good they have different ones so you can try and find the right one that suits you if you have problems. However, cannot take it forever.

As for the environment I read that apparently the sewage system does not filter out all the oestrogen from women taking the pill, it supposedly comes out in the urine? but makes you think about all the hormones and antibiotics they pump into our food as well, that has to come out as well! I am also sure condoms are not exactly great for the environment either!
