What the world gone crazy?

BBC NEWS | UK | Women 'lose out' in top jobs race

I really think it is strange. I mean women can get to the top if they want to but most choose caring professions such as the social sector or sacrifice their career for their children. I would not want to travel the world and work until 8pm every night!

BBC NEWS | Wales | Soldier is refused room at hotel

Now this seems really bad to me.. discrimination for sure.

I dont get why people feel they need to have it all and if they find they are "sacrificing" their precious career for a child then perhaps they should either do what they want to do careerwise first then have kids or dont have any if one of the partners isnt willing to be at home and look after them i hate all this shipping them off the second the nursery or nanny is able to take them. Also all the crap about oo we need the money oo we need this and that scale down smaller house less holidays go without once in a while.
Or if nesecery get a part time job fitting around the main earners hours. The bottom line is if you want kids you should be prepared and want to spend time with them if your both more worried about your work then nows not the time for you to be procreating im not saying it should be the women who has to stay home in fact in our house im currently looking into going full time while dave wants to cut back and spend more time at home.

Yes, even worse are the rich ones that send them off to boarding schools whilst they become chairman of the board!

If you're a single parent, you have very little choice in the matter though. I have had to work non stop, and I know my son suffered from this, but if I had gone onto benefits, I'd never have been able to get off them. I also had to work full time when I was married to his useless lazy shite of a father, who thought he was an artiste and didn't need to work (and when he did finally start working, never handed over a penny for housekeeping). So I decided that I'd rather only have one person to support than two.

Yep, but women tend not to have big flashy careers as they tend to be the primary caregiver.

But in the Western world it is possible. Look at Maggie Thatcher, Angela Merkel etc etc... There are plenty of women who reached the top. Women can, I just think sometimes they choose not to for whatever reasons. I think western women are lucky, we only worry about the glass ceiling or whatever, in other developing countries you are risk before you are even born from female infanticide or sex selective abortions, then there is FGM etc etc... or not being allowed to drive! we should embrace and celebrate our liberations on how lucky we are to live in the West. We have one of the lowest maternal mortality rates for example.
