Selcius the Astronomer stood next to his telescope Looking like some prophet of Doom dispensing his tales of Rifts.

We First became aware of him Via John the Mage a guard of the Duchy who on advice from decardo of the shadow court was doing his best to hunt down the rifts the one decardo had found was in the far north of sosoria on the ice island, in the land of felluca.
John took myself Baroness Morraine and Kaelyn a guard of trinsic to see this rift and to give advice on it.
It looked like a very poor attemp at a spell gone wrong. I was allmost laughing at John thinking how hes been fooled into thinking this was some kind of great event underway. we left this spot and tavel to moonglow to see
Selcius as soon as we mention the words Rift he was off and running

" Ahh you've seen it? The new rifts? It is exciting and terrifying at the same time "

Exciting How so !
"These rifts have to Happen from time to time in the past. Most scolars do not know this"

Scholars do not know what? i ask him
"Yes, i beleave and can prove thought my research, that these rifts are cyclical"

Cyclical what do you mean!

"Similar to a comets orbit of a sun, yet.. thats not entirely an accurate description"

We all ask him how we can help

" Excellent ! We will be LOcating and Cataloging these Newly formed rifts"

Cataloging them how we ask

" You will need a sextant. I'll need you to stand on the rifts, and get its coordinates."

Seem simple enoght to me. I ask him what made the rifts so terrifing to him.

" truly terrifying. you have no idea what could be on the other side of the rifts."


At this point Morraine had hear enoght and ask us to help Selcius as much as we can.

So with John we Have undertaken the task of Tracking down the rifts.

Me having been ! well how do i put this not seen eye to eye with the way the duchy guards have been acting of late I have taken a long leave of absents from my guard dutys So i have taken it apond myself to do the wandering about to look for rifts.

It's not an easy task as first of i was thinking the rifts were crater holes so i began searching for Holes. this turn out to be a fools task as a trip to the lost land found me stareing at another field like the one john show me in Felluca.
And on touching it a robed figure did appear out of no were? i had found my first rift.
So collecting John we went back to Felluca to look once again at the first rift again the Robed Figure. So now we know what the rifts are.

But how many are we looking for and were are the others!

Well today i can report that from a conversation in a tavern i found a 3rd Rift again in felluca and allso from that conversation seems to be 8 rifts!

8 rifts for 8 virtues or 8 rifts for 8 levels of magic or 8 rifts for 8 major citys and towns.

I dont know but 8 does seem a very powerfull number.

But i do know this we must find the other or Selcius warning of terror from the other side might be more then a warning.

A small reward is waiting for new information

I have searched the caves where the lizardman/giant(trolls, ettins and ogres) dwell and was unable to find a rift in any of the levels. My search was fairly thorough and I am relatively sure that there are not rifts in there.

During our encounter with the faery at Serpents Hold me and Hearon walked down the whole level of the cave at the docks. We saw no rifts in this cave either.

I attempted to go into the cave located on fire island but there were to many imps and hell hounds and I will need get some help to search all of it.

My next step is to hire a cartographer to map the rift that Mr. Cutter discovered and then search the area around Terathon Keep. If the ophidian invasion and this event are related there may very well be one there. The area around Terathon Keep is very dangerous and I may not be able to get very far on the search by myself.

This night myself and john contacted the Decardo Imier of the shadow court for help in finding the rifts and to exchange information, we invited him and Lady Cherry to talks in trinsic, Only to have them insults by our citizens throwen at them. In fact Lady Cherry had to take things into her own hands and disaplin young Claire, So we had to leave Trinsic to take our Talk else were

we went to the shadows court home in Rhovanion.

The debate! when on for allmost an Hour John and myself throwing question about the rifts to Decardo and cherry.
Between the two of us we had found but 3 of the 8 .. But when we learn that the shadow court had found all 8 i can but say i was surprised and was even more surprised that they had the information and not used it.

Decardo had not even knowen of Selcius the Astronomer. And his quest to find the information.

Well it did not take long WE gated to Selcius and Cherry got talking to him,
Selcuis went on as before wanting all the coordinates of the rifts.

WEll cherry had runes to all rifts but not the exact Spot So off we went from one rune to the other collecting the right coordinates for Selcuis.

Some spots were pretty heavy with Guards we all took some hard knocks After about our 6th rift the party got split up.
We regroup near trinsic Gates to have john be taken away from us to take care of some matters in trinsic.

The 3 of us left to continue the Quest Just Cove ORc fort and minax fortess in felluca to do .. after a few more Knocks on the head mainlyn to myself *** Side note must ask the duke to make stronger armor***
But thankfully Cherrys healing keep me going.
We made our way back to Selcius the Astronomer in moonglow.

As cherry read off the reading she made from the sextant.. Selcius told us the number and name of each rift.

The First we will call Sentinal
The second will be Shiny
The third can be Batttle
The forth is Chasm
the fifth be knowen as cycle
The sixth virtue if Honor
the seveth Slumber
The eighth should be a Ghost


He decipher the Coordinates Now what !!

Selcuis then said a ninth rift is needed to continue He told us to travel to a forrest of blacken trees, Lucky Decardo knew of this place

say the words roclasmpys and you will gain entry bring me the rifts coordinates
WE headed to that place on horse back as fast as we could The forrest was well protected fire and air elementals were everwere lucky decardo did not seem to mind and cut them down quicker than i could cast a spell.

At the far side of the forrest a wall a blank wall Cherry said the words first
" Roclasmpys" and she was gone not even a puff of smoke.
I followed her in in side the cave 8 Tablets of virtue and by the side of each a glowing coffin and in the middle of the room a pentagram, and next to that the RIft. Nothing else no enemys guarding this place. DEcardo said that a few days before this room was home to the Shadow void who was protecting this place but lucky for us the forces of sosoria did get rid of him a few days before.
In some ways i was gratfull that the quest was over even if a little of an anti climax,

Back in Moonglow Cherry did the honors of in forming Selcuis

Selcius "thats is it Exactly! You have help my research greatly! It exists It exsits"
he was very excited he keep repeteing It exists It exsits

He was so please he did not even thank us, still i don't beleave we did this nights work for thanks, the look of pleasure on selcuis face was enoght.

We bid each other our farewell and went our ways Decardo and cherry back
to Rhovanion and myself back to Trinsic and the inn for a good nights sleep.

I must say that the Shadow court gets bad press but this day working with them i found them to be the most honourable people i've come across in a long time they sacrifice them selfs to save both John and myself More than once. And the deeds they have done this tonight have change sosorias fate for the better.
And i will allways now call them Friends.
