A little more money for the coffers

Wandering trinsic streets at night, i walked past the Keg and anchor tavern, looking for some trouble to cause, i noticed many people gathered at the keg and anchor, so i went inside and took a seat, watching, observing the people there, looking for an angle an oppertunity to earn some money, as everyone left i followed them outside and spotted a man with a young baby girl, this was my opportunity.

He looked at me puzzled when i asked him if he knew what taxes were, so i thought i had better explain to him, so he knew what he would be paying for.

Obviously he saw the sarcasm in my explanation, only a complete moron would not have, so he was not all that pleased, however i didnt give him much of a choice but to pay, otherwise i would have had his daughter as a future slave.

Luckily for his daughter he made the right choice, and threw whatever gold he did have to me, sure it wasnt much, but every little helps to make us richer, to make us stronger.

On my way out of Trinsic to travel home i came across a group of people at the west "gate" which is really a bridge not a gate at all, anyway in this group i spotted the chef Stewan who is in our books and under our protection, i decided it was time for him to pay up a few more coins.

So i went away got disguised and then returned to town, i watched the group thinking up an angle on how to seperate him, when i remembered that he had just recently bought a new shipment of ribs, that was my angle thats what i needed food!

I asked him nicely if he would cook me some ribs, and told him that i preferred them cooked in an oven rather than on a camp fire so we both set off to the cooks in trinsic, where he started to prepare the food for me.

I decided the protection money he would pay, would be the amount he would charge me for the food, simply so i could mock him a little too, so i enquired on the cost of such.. extravagant food, and obviously asked if i may taste the food before i hand over the payment again, for mocking purposes.

So we waited for the meat to cook, and just as he had put it out to cool, disaster struck, A GUARD! this was going to be a problem, but luckily she was just checking in on her way home to rest, she also saw nothing suspicious, and left me to it. Had i of simply demanded money off him without asking him to cook the food, then the chances are she would have walked in whilst i was threatening him, and that would not have been good.

Luckily though it wasn't, i tasted the food and it was rather good however i did not let him know this i don't want him thinking he is good at something just before i take his money off him.

As i demanded the gold he told me that the brigands had put them under his protection, trying to get me to back off, so i revealed to him that i was there to collect his protection money he seemed shocked, so i simply gave him no choice.

What choice did he have but to hand over the gold?

More gold for the coffers and a peasant reminded what protection means, and costs.

Park Tax

Doing my rounds in trinsic again late in the night, looking for someone who has coins they want liberating from their purse, i came across a man wearing a kilt in the park and a defenseless looking women they looked like a good target to earn some extra coins.

I approached the man and asked him if he knew where he was, and who's garden he was standing on he told me it belonged to Trinsic but at that moment in time he was wrong, this was my garden.

And so because it belonged to me the laws there were my laws and the taxes were my taxes, and because he was standing on my garden he owed me some coins, Thirty coins to be precise.

Obviously telling by his reply he was going to be tight with his money and wasn't willing to pay his taxes, however if i was to have my way, then yes that cat was going to fly, i wasn't going to take no for an answer.

The women was quick to step forward and pay for the man, however this just opened up an opportunity to earn an extra thirty coins she had just paid her tax, and now it was his turn.

Just after i gave him his final warning he unclipped a wooden club, what did he think he was going to do with that? a warrior of my skill get defeated by a man with a club? i don't think so, a short fight ensued and i had him on the floor before he could even hit me, in fact i wouldn't call it a fight, more like public humiliation on his part, but with him down on the floor he couldn't stop me from taking the gold he owed and the women just stood there helpless.

Once i had the money i let him off the floor to stumble away and wallow in self pity but he left me with a threat, he told me to watch my back because he would be watching mine, as he walked away i saw it fit to educate him of an old drow proverb.

The pickings of the night, 60 coins not bad considering how easy they were to get.

Road Tax

Well just after i finished writing the report about the park tax, i headed out of Trinsic via the west gate, however as i passed the keg and anchor i came across someone i had met a few days before, Dirk.

In my disguise he did not know who i was, and i don't mind ripping off people i know, so long as they don't know its me so i stopped him... he asked if he could help me, so i let him know he could and how.

Well he was surprised to say the least even said i had balls for doing this, at first i thought he was going to turn it into a fight, but he went on to tell me how impressive it was that i had the guts to stop him in the street and tax him like that.

After telling me how impressive i was, and he was right.. i am impressive, he simply stepped forward and handed me the coins.

Another easy thirty coins.

Thats 90 coins in takings i have tonight to give to the boss..
