!!!Vesper Baronal Elections!!!

Due to the resignation of Baron Deacon Van Cocidious, the elections will come early this time round. The elections will take place on Sunday 1st June at 8pm UK time at Vesper Town Hall where two booths will be open to vote in.

Anyone can run for baron but only Vesparian citizens and folk associated with Vesper such as traders will be allowed to vote. The folk associated with Vesper will need official papers that will need to be shown when they vote. These official papers can be obtained from Escaflowne the Captain of the Militia, you can contact him via pidgeon on 136-016-357

If you wish to run for Baron please make it known by replying to this thread. Within this reply you should state what you can offer Vesper and the details of your campaign which you can add too over the period before the elections. You will have until Sunday 1st of June to win the votes of the public!

Lord Elliot Heath shall once more be running for the status of Baron of Vesper!

With the aid of my fiance Rebecca, I shall be aiming to help the common people of Vesper!

I shall use my experience with the Knights Hospitaller to ensure that Vesper is kept safe from outside forces, such as drow and orcs.

I shall make sure that no dangerous races are allowed to enter Vesper without a race pass, which shall cost 1000 gold pieces for one week. No dangerous races will be allowed to bear weapons in Vesper.

I shall increase the punishments for serious crimes, but everything will be kept fair. Murder shall be punished by death, but all less serious crimes shall be punished by fines and prison time, or in extreme cases, banishment. Minor crimes such as theft shall be dealt with by a fine. Half of the money shall go to improving the city, and the other half to the victim.

On my first day as baron, I shall give a full pardon to anyone who asks. All past crimes shall be forgiven.

There will be no laws that reduce the freedom of Vesper citizens. If you're not hurting anyone, you won't get in trouble with Heath in charge! The ridiculous hat laws shall be a distant memory.

There shall be no taxes except in very special cases! All money will be raised from the natural resources of the area. All Vesper citizens will be able to keep all the gold they earn. Any outsiders trading in vesper will be subject to a tax of 10%, which will go towards improving the town.

A monthly tournament shall be held to find the best fighter in Vesper. Any Vesper citizen can enter for free, but outsiders will have to pay 1000 gold. This should bring enough new blood to the town to improve trade immeasurably!

The militia will be left in the capable paws of Escaflowne. The force is our most valuable line of defence against outside oppressors, and so anybody volunteering for service will be rewarded! Pay will be increased for all ranks, with bonuses for those who show exceptional courage. I shall spend as much as the city can afford on improving militia training, so that Vesper shall once more be the most powerful nation in the land!

Many of you will not know of me but in some respects surely that’s a good thing? Aren’t you tired of the same depressing story? Tired of a downtrodden, always defeated militia?
Are you ready to finally CRUSH the tyrant in the north and take a piece of Yew for yourself?

Whilst I am not Vesperian by birth as you can well see, my father was and I consider this my adopted home and care deeply for its success. I look forward to using many successful policies from my birthplace, Makoto, a city blossoming with freedom and prosperity.

It’s about time we took back Minoc once and for all and I as a resourceful and determined leader shall see to it that we do just that. I may be young but I’ve seen my own share of bloodshed but not enough to be jaded to the point that I see this as just an opportunity for personal gain. I am here to lead the great city of Vesper to victory and to greater freedom.

However, there will always be aggressors and barbaric enemies watching from across our borders, waiting and lusting after our freedom with envy and greed. These people shall need to be kept in check. Our forces shall be provided the best training, the best equipment and the best salaries so that they can ensure the protection and well being of our fine republic.

Vote for David Pearson and help Vesper rise up and drive the tyrant D’Gar from Minoc and Yew itself.

It has come to my attention during my time in Vesper that there is something of a vermin problem in the form of drow and orc visitors. Vote for David Pearson and I shall see to it that these abominations are dragged kicking and screaming from our realm of freedom. If they wish to stay, then they must make a noticeable contribution to our great city and apply for a pass proving their contribution.

The judicial system in Vesper must be addressed also and this is where I feel adopting a successful policy from my homeland would prove quite beneficial.
If you steal you shall not only return what you have stolen but you shall return the value of what you stole to the victim also. If you assault a fellow Vesperian you shall be assaulted in kind and if you murder, then you shall be executed. This system is known commonly as the ‘eye for an eye’ justice system and I would see it turn Vesper from a haven for criminals into a bastion of justice and freedom from tyranny in the north.

Every Vesperian is equal and we shall see no laws or acts passed that might see our equality suffer, nor shall we see anything obscure our freedom. Vesper has bought its freedom in blood and such a precious thing will not be undermined by political greed.

Vesper shall have no tax system, our glorious republic shall flourish from victories and bounties secured on the battlefield and sound investment and trading of resources procured from Mount Kendall. Your happiness and freedom is of utmost importance to I, David Pearson and I will not see you work hard only to pocket your earnings for myself, in fact I value your happiness and well being so highly that as such you shall be invited to attend weekly markets and tournaments designed to entertain and amaze you.
The education and growth of our children is paramount and so we shall open the first free Vesperian school, so that our future shall learn skills and talents that will ensure Vesper’s survival and affluence.

So vote for David Pearson and take a step into the new dawn of Vesper and watch as we rise from the ashes and claim what freedom and wealth is yours by birthright.
